7th ANNUAL MOTORCYCLES IN THE PARK

Another Great Show!!! We had over 80 bikes in the show this year. 92 bikes were registered for the show. Thanks to the weather forecast of 50% rain several bikes and owners decided not to show. Well all i can say is it was a beautiful day all day with no rain. We would have had 100 bikes if all had shown up. Sorry for you guys who decided not to show. It has rained on the show before.

Several bikes were at the Cannon Ball Run and could not show. Maybe next year we will have some Cannon Ball bikes on display and some really old bikes like last year.

The oldest and most unique motorcycle was Mike Otten's 1920 Schickel. What a cool motorcycle.

Buddy & Chris Muirhead brought the 1923 Ner-a-car. Buddy always has a good time talking, running, and riding the Ner-a-car. Buddy is 86 years old and going strong and is always a pleasure to be around. Thanks Buddy.

Butch Hudkins from Llano Texas brought a 1955 Ariel Square 4 and a beautiful 1936 Harley Davidson VLH. Greg Nelson from Georgetown Texas brought his 1950 beautifully restored Harley Davidson FL Panhead.

James Sandage brought 14 bikes which included his Simplex collection.

Jed Simpson brought 5 bikes and 1 Sno-Rabbit. Mike Thomson had 8 bikes to display.

Greg and Linda Bright had 7 bikes. Butch Jones showed 5 bikes. Several more members brought multiple bikes and several bikes just showed up and were welcome to show.

We had 20 Harley's, 18 Japanese, 9 Cushman's, 7 Simplex's, 13 British, some Mustange's, Competition bikes and a few others.

Most bikes had plaques and we handed out posters and Arkansas Ride Guides to a very large crowd of spectators. It turned out to be a great show in spite of the weather man.

A big thanks to all who put bikes in the show and everyone who worked so hard to make the show a huge success.

Special Thanks to Steve Arrison, his staff. and the city of Hot Springs. without them the show would not happen.

Thanks to Fred Anderson and the Hot Springs Rally for doing a great job on the Rally.

See you there next September with a bigger and better show.

MEET AND GREET

Meet and greet was held at Mike Thomson and Susie Parker home on Thursday before the Show. Around 35 people showed up for Bar-B-Q brisket and pork with all the trimmings and had a great time.

Susie Parker organized the event and did a great job. The Bar-B-Q was cooked by Billy Ross and Jerry Welch.

Oh My! Was it good and we all had plenty. Thanks Guys, you did a great job!!! I am sure everyone left full and happy.

The meet and greet is fun and i hope we will do it again.

Friday's Ride

On Friday before the show five of us got together to ride some of Hot Springs back roads.

Mike Thomson, Jed Simpson, and Clint took our Texas friends, Butch and Greg, on some back roads to Blakely Dam and then to Glenwood to eat lunch at The Fish Nest.

It has been a fun three days.

Lakepointe Church Car & Bike Show

The church presented a car and bike show on September 20th, asking for food to help stamp out hunger in Garland Country. The turn out was good for their first show.

Greg Bright took five bikes to show. Mike Parker and Mike Thomson rode vintage bikes.

Gary and Sandy Walker were there showing their Corvette, What a beautiful car.

The church had popcorn, hot dogs and fun things for the kids to do. Best of luck to them and i hope they do it again next year.

Cannon Ball Run Report

If you have not been keeping up with the Cannon Ball Race you are missing out. The race is over now but what a adventure it was for the riders.

You can go to these web sites for up dates:

www.carsonclassicmotors.com | www.motorcyclecannonball.com

Mike Carson and Scott Byrd i think finished the race. Buck Carson had engine trouble and had to drop out. One bike caught fire and burned up, what a pity. One rider went into a ditch and broke some ribs. He tapped himself up and got back into the race.

Pull up the web sites for full reports. It has been quiet exciting. Best of luck to all riders.

Closing Comments

The 7th Annual Motorcycles in the Park was a huge success thanks to everyone who displayed bikes and everyone who worked so hard to get together. This event is doing every well. Next year should be bigger and better. We gained a few new members at the show and are happy to have them.

After October things will slow down. Time to catch up on never ending maintenance on vintage bikes.

See you at Perkin's next Sunday.
